We tend to fear what we don’t understand. We worry and fill our minds with anxious thoughts. Fear not, it’s a term often used in the Bible. When God sent his messengers, often these angels would begin with these words, ‘fear not.’ Rev. Billy Graham describes it like this. “Calloused hands were the badge of the pioneer, but a furrowed brow is the insignia of modern man.”
We are filled with worries, anxieties and fear. We are overwhelmed, overworked, and overly attached. We put our trust and hope in the wrong things. We want, we need, and we struggle to get. But God has the best waiting for you. Dr. Charles Stanley said, “Fear is an alarm that goes off when we feel threatened. It keeps people from the attainment of their goals.”
God tells us to put our trust in him. There are 365 verses in the Bible that say, ‘Fear not. Pastor Rick Warren said, “It’s interesting to note that ‘ God provided us with one ‘fear not’ message for every day of the year! I think God is saying, ‘Get the message. Don’t be afraid.'”
Often we have good intentions. We might feel nervous because we don’t know what’s going to happen but God tells us He has it all under control, so we don’t have to fear. Our destiny is planned and God promises that the good work he has begun will continue. Philippians 1:6 says, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” (NLT)
So remove the fear and rise to hope. Experience God’s best for your life. There is much to be hopeful about and fear will only stand in the way. Today’s prayer message gives us peace. It removes the fears and worries we might hold. When we feel the anxieties of this world overwhelming, we’re reminded to pray these words.
“Lord Jesus, teach me to keep my eyes centered on You rather than on myself and my anxieties. Help me to allow You to give me peace of heart and mind today.”
