Have you ever read something that speaks directly to your heart? You read the words as if the writer wrote them especially for you. The message jumps right out of the page, onto your lap, and says ‘here I am, just wanted to let you know because I know all about you.’
It’s one of those messages that confirms something longing in your heart. It’s at that time, you know there is a reason why you’re reading that passage, or that book. It was meant especially for you. I love books like that. I cannot get enough of them.
I find the more I search for answers that long within my soul, the more I find God reaching out to me. He puts me at the right place just at the right time, to show me, He is with me. God cares about my little anxieties. He understands my aches and pains. When I read an inspirational book that conveys a strong message, I know it’s God’s way of showing me He’s looking out for me.
I read that we are happiest when we are doing what God created us to do. Our dreams and our desires are seeds planted in our souls that we cherish. We hold them close so they won’t escape us. We press forward each day, hoping that someday, we will live the dream that dwells within our hearts.
When our dreams become a reality, we experience great joy.
Our souls hunger for this, our hearts long for this, and our minds can’t stop thinking about this. When we experience hunger, we search for food. When we experience sadness, our wounds direct our steps. But when we find our purpose, our reason for living, we find incredible peace.
Imagine what life would be like if you had all the desires of your heart. Would it bring you happiness? Can you think of one thing you need right now that will satisfy the longing in your soul?
Whatever we do with those thoughts become our pursuit in life. If we long to be free from pain, our mind will continuously reflect on our wounds, but if we long to experience our dreams, we will pursue those things to make our dreams possible.
I’ve learned that life is a great teacher. Wisdom doesn’t come from books, knowledge does. We experience wisdom over the years, after experience and situations confront our lives. Each of us long for our souls to be free. We ache for peace. We search for wisdom but cannot find it on the internet. Our faith is tested every day.
Explore your soul. Ask God to reveal anything in your heart that is preventing you from reaching your goal. Highlight your purpose by reflecting on who you are. What softens your heart? Are you determined to make a difference? What defines your character? Don’t be surprised if God reveals some unshattering truths.
Be willing to change and continue to seek because as long as we live we will never have all the answers. Find your God given talent and don’t let it waste away.
I love what Tammy Maltby says in her book, “The God Who Sees You.” She writes, “There’s a reason we all have those yearnings. It’s because God made us that way. It’s part of God’s original design for us.”
