What does Christmas mean to you?

What does Christmas mean to you? My Christmas card declares The Messiah came to save us.

The Bible declares in Micah 5:2, “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” This was a prophecy spoken long ago proclaiming the coming birth.

A star excelled brightly, leading, showing the way to the birth of a newborn baby. A baby was born, who would be King, ruler of all men. A man of peace, of grace, of love, who came to dwell with us. On one fateful night a King was born. In order than we might have a new beginning, our priceless Christmas gift.

A King of hope presented his life in ransom for many. On Christmas day, Our Savior was born. To take this lightly would be irrational. Remembering the gift God gave us is the story behind Christmas. Without that, Christmas is nothing but a spectacular event of lights and presents, shopping, and parties. I heard one say Christmas means 6 days until the “big” New Year’s Eve party. Is that really what Christmas means?

Without the birth, the death of life would be the ultimatum of us all. Strong words with a strong message.

How gracious that our King would come as a baby. An innocent child presented to us as a gift. A wonderful gift fit for a King. Jesus Christ was a man of sweet repent. His life represented forgiveness and mercy. He demonstrated love to everyone he met. What better example to live our lives today. If Jesus came today, his best friends would be the homeless, the sick, the drifters, and the unloved of this world. Jesus didn’t see color or race; He didn’t see what man sees. Jesus saw into the hearts of people. His love is everlasting. He never gave up on the people of that day and He will never give up on you.

So as we reflect over our Christmas dinners and times with our families, let’s take a step back and look at what Christmas represents. All this glistens to mark in another Christmas:

Christmas is about family,
about friends, near and far.
Christmas is about giving back to others.
Mailing Christmas cards and opening presents.
Winter snowman and Christmas carols,
Church bells and mistletoes,
Christmas wishes of peace on earth,
goodwill toward men.
Of candy canes and stockings hang,
Gingerbread soldiers and Christmas tree lights,
A Christmas miracle lights up your heart with intensity. It’s all about the ultimate gift of love, the day our loving Savior came to walk on this earth.

It marks new beginnings of hopes, dreams, and longing fulfillments.

When the magic of Christmas happens, where will your heart be?
