Stories of hope

The world gathered around the news media on Oct. 12-13, 2010 to watch the rescue of 33 men who had been trapped in a mine, miles beneath the surface. These men lived for 69 days in small conditions and unsavory ways. However they were rescued.

Family members gathered around the mine’s operation and watched each man come up, one by one. News media for this event was all over the world. CNN and other major news networks were gathered at the site to witness this historic event.

So why does the media scramble to get these headlines? In my opinion, we want to know about hope, survival, and faith.

Wanting to know how they survived, witnessing their dramatic rescue, praying they would all be okay while we remained triumphantly hopeful. We watched the families, in tears, reunited with their loved ones, and rejoiced along with them.

Upon their release, many men fell to the ground, on their knees, some holding their bibles. On that day, faith came to the rescue.

This newscast story is faith inspired.  It’s an amazing story of the human spirit.

Our hearts and souls hunger for this kind of truth, keeping hope alive.
