Have you ever taken a spiritual retreat? I’ve heard about weekend retreats before and have only been to one up until this past weekend. I can say with all honesty, it changed me.
Life can wear us down. A busy schedule, a list of demands and no down time can lead to burn out and stress. Many of us know how to meditate or find a place to unwind. Sometimes we take vacation to get away from it all but the stress is still there. Have you ever noticed how stressful it becomes right before you are about to leave on vacation? It seems like there are a million things to do before you can “get away.”
How do you unwind? How do you feed your soul? Vacations are great and rewarding but what about your spirit?
Taking the time out of your schedule to nourish your soul can reawaken your spirit.
Do you see yourself how God sees you? Do you know how much God loves you? Have you ever sensed His love?
Try wrapping your mind around the idea of a big God. A God whose ways are not your ways; a God whose thoughts are not your thoughts; a God who forgives generously; a God who loves unconditionally; wouldn’t you want to know Him?
I felt His presence all weekend. God came close to me as I drew closer to Him. I realized how big He really is. It’s hard to imagine in our every day existence a God who is unseen but is ever-present. In a world that wants to silence His love, our God is a big God. In the end, God will not be silenced.
The Bible tells us the stories of Abraham and Isaac and how much God loved the people of Israel. If our God can bless them, He can bless you and me. God doesn’t play favorites. His blessings are available to each of us, even today.
Take a spiritual retreat. Find your place in life. See our big God and experience His amazing love.
The Bible tells us that He loved us so much that He sent His only Son to die for us. While we were still sinners, He came down from His seat on high to live with us. Jesus paid the ultimate price to wash away our sins.
My hope and prayer is that I put a smile on your heart today. May you find your true calling.
Be the victor, refresh your soul, and expect great things from the God who loves you. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you, for Jesus stands at the door knocking.
