What does it mean to be a Christian?

In today’s world of doing your own thing and whatever one feels like doing, many ask why would I want to be a Christian?  People wonder if being a Christian means following a lifestyle that is boring.  Many think if they turn to God, they would have to stop doing what pleases them, as if they have to live by some strict rules and they wouldn’t have any fun   Quite the opposite is true.

Being a Christian means living a life that is certainly pleasing to God. Partying all night and damaging your body with drugs or alcohol is not honoring to God and it’s a dishonor to yourself. As a Christian, your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit so why would you want to damage it?

Living by a set of rules is what they teach you in school. Being a Christian means living by the Holy Bible. The basic instruction before leaving this earth, the Bible teaches what it means to live a life that is honoring to God. Certainly God has equipped you with all that you need to live a life that honors Him. He gave us His son so we could live a life of joy and live it abundantly.

When a person asks Jesus Christ to come into their life, He begins to work. He creates a new person inside. This isn’t the “religious” type many might think. Being a Christian isn’t walking around being “religious.”

Being a Christian is living a life that is loving and blessing others.

There are a lot of false teachings when it comes to “being a Christian.” The label, “Christian” illustrates to some as a hypocrite. Some believe Christians are goody-two shoes and think of themselves better than others.

While judging a person because of their race or color is prejudicial so is judging one because of their faith. Not all people are the same. Being a true Christian is not being judgmental.

A true Christian serves others, loves people, and loves God with all their heart, soul and mind. They walk a walk filled with integrity and they honor God by honoring others.

Christ loved people so to must Christians. God gave his life so that others may come to Him. As a Christian, they have a responsibility to walk in this light. They are ambassadors for Christ.

Being a Christian is a new way to live but it’s also an exciting journey. God promises to work all things out to those who know and love Him. His love never fails.

Being a Christian doesn’t remove the sting of life, but it does give you an anchor to hold on to in the storms.

What does it mean to be a Christian? It means to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind. It means to love others the way Christ loved.

Christianity is not about rules, it’s about love. A love for others that surpasses understanding and a love for God that glorifies Him.
