Just the word, daydream, conjures up all sorts of connotations. Suggest to a person, “go ahead & daydream about it” sounds a little ambiguous. Who would certainly tell someone such a thing? However we all do it. We look for hidden meanings by the way people walk or talk. There are all sorts of studies on body language and the interpretations behind them. So we are asking ourselves to understand. Daydreaming supports our ability to grasp meaning.
Are daydreamers just chasing rainbows somewhere? Many don’t understand daydreamers. The notion is such people just live in their heads, as if they are out of touch with reality. In theory, daydreamers are more in tune with what is going on around them than most. Daydreamers spend a lot of time thinking, analyzing, and searching. They look for hidden meanings and strategically calculate the results to problems. Daydreaming is a tool than can be used to find solutions. Analytical thinkers take the time to comprehend the problem and look for rational ways to find an explanation. Daydreamers use their hearts and instincts to develop their intuition.
Daydreaming can take place almost anywhere. Standing in line at the grocery store, waiting on unscheduled delays at an airport terminal, and teaching us to be more patient and understanding. Daydreams can take us back to another place or time.
In retrospect, we gain awareness to our lives, we find truth and meaning. Research is plentiful, answers can be found everywhere, daydreaming costs nothing, so why not take advantage of it?
